Built for 1099 workers and skilled trades

Premiums may be tax deductible

If you're self-employed with a net profit and aren't eligible for an employer-subsidized plan, you can generally deduct the premiums you pay for yourself, your spouse and your dependents (IRS Form 7206). Ask your tax professional how it applies to you.

Savings that follow your income

Marketplace savings are based on your estimated household income for the year, after business expenses. When your 1099 income goes up and down, we help you estimate it so you don't overpay or owe at tax time.

Made for the trades

Electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, carpenters, roofers, welders, landscapers and other skilled trades: we find plans with networks that cover the doctors near where you live and work.

Coverage that isn't tied to a job

Your plan stays with you from job site to job site, whether you work for one contractor or dozens, so a slow season never means losing your coverage.

Cover your family and crew

Add your spouse and kids to one plan, or ask us about group coverage once you bring on employees.

Help on your schedule

We're available 8:00am to 11:00pm EST, so you can talk with a licensed broker before the first job of the day or after the last one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is health insurance tax deductible if I'm self-employed?

Often, yes. If you have a net profit from self-employment and you (and your spouse) aren't eligible for an employer-subsidized health plan, you can generally deduct the premiums for yourself, your spouse and dependents on Schedule 1 using IRS Form 7206. The deduction can't be more than your business's net profit, and it works differently if you also get marketplace premium tax credits, so check with your tax professional.

My 1099 income changes a lot. Can I still get marketplace savings?

Yes. Marketplace savings are based on your best estimate of household income for the year, after business expenses. If your income changes during the year, you can update it so your savings stay accurate. We'll help you make a realistic estimate.

How much does it cost to use a health insurance broker?

Our services are completely free to you. We earn commissions from insurance carriers when you enroll, but your premium is the same whether you use a broker or go directly to the carrier. You get expert guidance at no extra cost.

Can you help if I have a pre-existing condition?

Absolutely. Under the Affordable Care Act, all ACA-compliant plans must cover pre-existing conditions without charging higher premiums. We can help you find the right plan regardless of your health history.

What's the difference between an HMO and a PPO?

An HMO requires you to choose a primary care physician and get referrals to see specialists. A PPO offers more flexibility: you can see any doctor without referrals, though staying in-network saves you money. We help you decide which fits your lifestyle.

When can I enroll in a health insurance plan?

Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027 on HealthCare.gov. Enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1. States that run their own marketplace can set different dates. Outside that window, you need a Special Enrollment Period triggered by life events like marriage, having a baby, losing other coverage, or moving. We can check your eligibility right away.

Do you offer small business group plans?

Yes, we specialize in group health insurance for businesses with 2 to 250 employees. We compare options from multiple carriers, handle enrollment, and provide ongoing support for your HR team.

What if I only need dental or vision coverage?

We offer standalone dental and vision plans, as well as bundled options that can be paired with or without medical coverage. These are often more affordable than you might expect.
